You might think sentiment seems misplaced in the otherwise mercenary world of internet marketing. Why should you really care about something as unquantifiable as your emotions? If the numbers add up, a good niche is a good niche, regardless of whether you’re fascinated or repelled by it, right?

Again and again we’ve noticed that marketers who really care about their niches make more money than those who don’t. There are good reasons to choose a niche about which you feel passionate. Let’s examine a handful of them.
Initially, those who love a niche are more likely to create quality content for their blogs. If you really know your topic, you’re less likely to supply inaccurate information. You’re also far more likely to create content that will connect with your blog’s readers. If you want to know how to make money, you need to realize the power of working on topics that interest you.
Additionally, you’re more likely to keep your project moving forward when you care about it. Motivation is a critical part of internet marketing success and it’s much easier to find the motivation to work on a project that interests you than it is to labor on something that bores you to tears. Blogging involves more than a one-time effort. Your success depends upon regularly adding content and making improvements. If you choose a niche that doesn’t match your passions, you’ll find it hard to keep things running–and making money.
Third, working with your passions can kick open doors to other moneymaking opportunities. If you’re working with your passions, you’re more likely to find ways to expand your operation in profitable directions. If you’re not really interested in widgets, you’re not going to discover some great ways to maximize the value of your widget blog. You’ll miss great content ideas for your site. You just won’t see all of the possibilities if you’re bored with your niche. If you love widgets, you’ll explore those opportunities and you’ll find new and better ways to make your blogging and other widget-related work pay.
Fourth, it’s more fun. It’s simply more enjoyable to work on topics about which you care. We’re all interested in making money online. That doesn’t mean we always need to think purely in terms of money, though. Why shouldn’t we strive to make money and to have fun at the same time?
Remember to consider your feelings when you choose niches for blogging projects. Don’t be satisfied by removing only the least interesting options. Choose niches that really interest and excite you. Keeping your passions in mind is one of the best things you can do for your business.
